CODES,
BYLAWS AND STANDARDS
Extra care should be taken to ensure that roof framing meets National, State or Provincial
codes as to snow loading, wind bracing, fire and fastening. Local bylaws, building codes
and other requirements must be satisfied as well. Architects, engineers, builders and roof
installers are responsible to ensure that these requirements are followed. |

RAFTERS
Cost savings can be obtained in new construction if rafter lengths are specified to
accommodate full courses of panel.PITCH
The Dura-Loc panels interlocking design generally allows any pitch from 3/12* minimum to a
vertical face. (*Subject to certain conditions).

BATTENS
2" X 2" nominal construction grade lumber or 1 1/2" galvanized metal hat
section of minimum 26 ga. is recommended. If the battens are to be structural then the
size and fastening must meet local code and design requirements.RIDGE/HIP/VALLEY/GABLES
The panels are typically cut and bent and flashed over as per details on this page.

UNDERLAY
Felt or equivalent underlay is recommended to be used on new construction or re-roofing
involving tear-off of old roofing.BATTEN
INSTALLATION
The battens are installed from the bottom of the roof up to the ridge. The first batten up
from the fascia must be chalked to ensure accurate positioning of the remaining battens.
All joints must be staggered with no single spans of battens permitted. NOTE: The most
important factor in laying the panels is the accurate strapping of the roof. If the
battens are not installed accurately, the panels will fail to fit properly.
PANEL
LAYING AND FASTENING
Panels are laid in rows across the roof from left to right
and down the roof from ridge to eave by lifting the front
of the previous course and tucking the back upstand of the
panel under the front downturn of the preceding panel. Joints
are staggered for visual effect and panels are fastened as
shown. The type and quantity of fastener is dictated by local
code requirements. The panels must be fastened with long life
coated screws or nails.
